ALBERTA SOCIETY OF ORTHODONTISTS

The Alberta Society of Orthodontists (ASO) is a professional organization of orthodontic specialists whose mission is to aid its members provide the highest level of quality care to the public by providing quality continuing education, providing a strong representative voice , and facilitating two-way communication between the organization and its members.

	2008-2009 President’s Message
		I am honored to be the current president of our organization and to have opportunities to be representing the ASO to the rest of our profession and to the public as well. In the current year our society has 65 active members registered, including live members, academic members and out of province members. Since our last general meeting in March 2008 the ASO executive has been working on several pertinent issues that can affect the orthodontic profession in the province.

We have used electronic mail to deliver to our members the information regarding these issues. Please feel free to contact the executive should you have not received any e-mails and if your e-mail needs to be updated in our files.

In November 2008 our Society will be co-sponsoring a continuing education course at the University of Alberta. The speaker will be David Kennedy and the current scheduled dates are November 7th and 8th. Please expect more details on the course in the very near future.

You can also expect to receive a survey that the ASO executive has put together and we would appreciate that our members would take the time to complete it and send it back.

In order to use this website as an easy to navigate vehicle of communication for our members we are looking at possibly redesigning the format of the site. Please feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions in this regard.

I am very grateful to Dr. Keith King and his staff for putting together a tremendous effort in preparing and organizing our excellent meeting in Banff in March 2008. I would also like to welcome Dr. Mike Bleau as our new secretary –treasurer. Welcome aboard Mike!

Our next scientific meeting and annual general meeting are scheduled for March 6th and 7th 2009. Our featured speaker will be Dr. Vince Kokich Junior. The registration forms and details regarding the meeting will be distributed in the fall.

As an exciting change, our esteemed colleagues, the Alberta prosthodontists have expressed interest to have a joint meeting with us in 2009, so we are very excited at the possibility to share the meeting with them.
